Florida Arachnids

“It has to be a windless day…in fact, barely a breeze. A pair of good eyes and patience is necessary as well. Then you will be able to comb through leaves and webs, manually focusing on whatever peaks your interest.”
These are my thoughts whenever I go out to shoot spiders. What I enjoy most about it is the challenge. A spider you’ve never seen before can be lurking on the other side of a leaf or just above your head in a tree. And some of them don’t want their picture taken and will jump and hide quickly, so you have to be fast.
Below are some favorites of mine. The lenses I use for the macro shots are my Quantaray 70-300mm and 18-55mm Canon kit lens mounted on an extension tube.

Ed, you and your fascination with bugs! EWWWW…. Great shots though man… MY coworker sitting next to me thinks they are really cool. Still doing the manual focus thing? ;)
