HDR in Maine

June 18th, 2008 by Rohit Deshpande

I went to meet Julie Ziffer. She is an assistant professor at the Univeristy of Southern Maine. She was my senior here at UCF. My primary reason to go was to work with her on asteroid data. But I took the opportunity to visit the lighthouse and the harbour. Here are two pictures taken in HDR. Wow, I cannot believe I have posted after 4 months!

Nice shots Rohit. I wish I could critique you, but I’ve never done an HDR myself so who am I to say. The clouds seemed to have cooperated with you. Man you’re all over the place! When are we ever shooting here in Orlando? Let me know, you’re the more busy one with all the traveling you’ve been doing (lucky).

Thanks John. Please do critique me when it comes to Black and White photos. I am a BIG fan of yours when it comes to B&W. I have tried and I am continually trying to get shots like yours. This one, I did try to get some contrasting to the best of my ability. I still feel my photos lack sharpness. I am not sure how to get them.

Paul and Camillo have taken HDR before. Hope they can critique on them.

John, we should set up a date and time sometime next month. I would love to go out and shoot with you. Maybe we should drag Dro in this as well. Have not seen any shots from her lately. :-)

Wow thanks. I’ll do my best. We can plan anytime next month or the following months etc. Just let me know. Yes, we’ll drag Dro out of the apple store…

Sad thing is… the guys like to tease me, so they’d help you.

I have to say that black and white picture is absolutely beautiful. The great thing about doing b&w hdr is being able to manipulate the high dynamic range of color and shades while not caring how awful the saturated colors are going to look. The result is a great blend of contrasts that make your eyes wander over the entire image several times. And you definitely accomplished that.
The color picture also looks great. The foreground and background are both colorful and properly exposed.
